I hope this letter finds you well. I am writing to formally request an exception to the deadline for dropping a course without penalty. Due to circumstances beyond my control, I was unable to drop ENGL100 before the deadline.

I was on a flight on the day of the deadline and did not have access to the internet. By the time I landed and was able to access the online course management system, the deadline had already passed. I understand the importance of adhering to deadlines, but I was genuinely in a situation where I had no means of dropping the course on time.

As a student who has worked diligently to manage my finances, I have already made significant sacrifices to enroll in another course this summer. The additional 25% penalty for dropping ENGL100 at this time would place an undue financial burden on me. I am committed to my studies and have taken on this additional course to advance my academic progress, but I am struggling to afford this unexpected expense.

I kindly request that you consider my situation and allow me to drop ENGL100 without incurring the penalty. Your understanding and assistance in this matter would greatly alleviate the financial strain I am currently facing.
