Submit an Academic Petition or Appeal

Petition Letter: To whom it may concern,

I hope this message finds you well.

I am writing to formally request a re-read of my final exam for [Course Name and Code]. I had previously reached out for an informal review but did not receive a response, which is why this formal request took a while.

Throughout the course, I struggled to reach the goals set by the professor. I found that the grading scheme and expectations differed significantly from my other English classes, in which I have consistently performed very well. Despite these challenges, I engaged in intense studying for the final exam, hoping to compensate for my earlier difficulties. I believed I performed well on the exam, considering the substantial effort I invested, but I was disappointed with the final grade I received.

My grade in this course is significantly lower than any of my other grades from this academic year and the previous one. I believe a re-read could be beneficial to ensure that my poor grade was due to my own performance and not due to differences in grading opinions.

Additionally, I suffer from ADHD and intended to extend my academic accommodations to include extended time for the exam, but I could not complete the request in time.
