Petition Letter
Petition Letter: To whom it may concern,
I am submitting this petition letter to request late enrollment into the DEVS 410 course.
I wish to enroll in this particular course as I am participating in a volunteer internship abroad in Mumbai, India. I have just completed my first year of studies at Queen's University, and was recently able to declare my major as a joint honours with DEVS and POLS.
The DEVS 410 course in the past has only been offered to students in the DEVS program. Additionally, I had not concretely decided or submitted my major until recently. I was supposed to partake in this internship along with a partner, as the QPID (Queen's Project on International Development) internships typically occur.
However, due to unforeseen circumstances my internship partner dropped out and I decided to still continue to pursue this opportunity alone.
The DEVS 410 course is highly relevant to what will come of my internship experience abroad, as the course is entirely centered on a development internship abroad.
I sincerely hope my petition to enroll in the course will be granted.
Best regards,
Naiara Menezes

Academic Plan
Academic Plan: To whom it may concern,
I am writing this academic plan in regards to my petition of joining the DEVS 410 Summer course late.
The course is not structured like a typical course, as it focuses on a students' experience abroad. The course requires a student to maintain a weekly journal for their time abroad. I will ensure to do this by documenting my daily activities working with an NGO in the development sector in Mumbai.
I have currently missed one assignment, which I will immediately begin, if I were to be fortunate to be enrolled in the course.
I have contacted the professor, and will schedule meetings to catch up on my missed assignments and delayed start to the course.
The DEVS 410 course does not have any heavy assignments, therefore in the event of physical illness, I will still be able to continue to maintain a journal as this is the only task during the summer portion of the course.
The DEVS 411 course, which is the second part of DEVS 410 takes place in the fall in Kingston. I will ensure to attend the weekly seminars, engage in discussion and assignements to the best of my abilities upon my return to Kingston in the fall.
The professor, Dr. Paritosh Kumar has provided a letter of support for my enrollment in the course, which is shared to the DEVS email.
Best regards,
Naiara Menezes
