Petition Letter

Petition Letter: As my sincere regards, I kindly ask that FILM 112 and PHIL 151 be removed from my transcript record. This request is based on the independent circumstances that had a drastic impact on my studying in the Fall and Winter terms.

During this challenging period, my family faced an unexpected tragedy: I was forced to drop out of school to look for a job and care for my young siblings since my father who was also nursed from a terminal ailment remained our only source of care for the children. This knocked us off balance for my father and my father’s death was very sudden and fast which put so much pressure on me to take up the role of caring for my dad. Considering this, my responsibility was to take care of my 14-year-old sister as our mother had to work many hours to pay for the increasing medical needs of our father and, of course, depression struck my sister too.

Besides counseling, I helped her to attend doctors’ appointments, and therapy sessions on average several times a week. This entailed biweekly bus commuting for which I had to spend a considerable amount of time traveling and thereby disrupted my daily study schedules tremendously as well as reducing my ability to manage my academic responsibilities. However, despite my best efforts to accommodate these responsibilities alongside coursework, the particular obligations and requirements of FILM 112 and PHIL 151 do appear to go beyond what is possible to manage.

Therefore, due to the poor attitude and commitment I developed out of frustration, I performed dismally and even failed in these important courses, unlike other vital commitments I have exhibited in other parts of my student’s life. I spent most of the time with my father watching him deteriorate every day and taking care of my sister who was severely handicapped also affected my stress level as well as my sleep, hence my health was also affected. In one; I visit a sleep therapist and am glad that I am regaining my normal self to get back on track as far as my academic work is concerned.

The extent of these personal challenges affected my coursework, which was highly uncommon to my abilities as a diligent student. Hence, I request to have these courses removed from my transcript to avoid negative consequences on my credit progress and GPA. Taking out these courses would paint the best picture of my academic abilities and performance in a non-athletic training environment.

As for the future, I am committed to academic success and utilizing some of the techniques received through therapy to cope with stress and increase concentration. I intend to get better involved in my academics and show what I am genuinely capable of. Your favorable disposal of my petition will not only clear the records of my unanticipated academic records episode but also encourage my progress towards the attainment of my degree will keep me off the low academic performance appeal threshold and ensure successful completion of my program.

I understand your concerns and want to express my appreciation for the patience you have shown.

Sincerely, Alex Yehdego

Academic Plan

Academic Plan: To achieve the desired academic results and avoid other problems, I have designed a detailed and challenging plan that refers to both the short- and long-term perspectives of my learning process. To start with I would like to take FILM 112 and PHIL 151 in the following Spring-Winter semesters. To improve my performance in these subjects, I will create a carefully planned academic timetable that will outline the period for reading, doing homework, and revising the material studied in class. By adhering to this plan, I will establish good study habits, and achieve much better results since the system used is highly disciplined.

Furthermore, I am also planning to utilize other facilities that are available abundantly in the university to a greater extent. This entails attending regular tutorial sessions provided by the university, contributing to study groups, and attending seminars meant to enhance the student’s academic demeanor. These resources are very helpful as they help in enhancing the understanding and knowledge retention of the course content especially in these complex courses.

Also, I will arrange a meeting with my academic advisor every two weeks to go through my activities and evaluate my academic plan. In this process, the tutor will check on me regularly, nip any academic problems in the bud, and constantly check whether I am on the right track regarding my academic goals.

I have found a way of getting my sister some care and this will reduce the burden on me. This change is going to help me to devote a sufficient amount of time and attention to my classes unlike before. In addition to the above, I have been consulting a sleep therapist to enable me to tackle the sleep issues that have greatly impacted my concentration and health. The goal of this professional support is to help me develop a proper sleeping regimen, which will help me in enhancing my day-to-day activities and academic achievements.

A part from these short-term goals, I am determined to pursue long-term goals to improve my academic experience. As for the plans, I believe that it is useful to take additional workshops and seminars that concern effective study, time management, and stress-coping strategies. These programs will enable me to possess appropriate tools and skills so that I can improve my academic performance besides being able to lead a healthy personal life.

In addition, I will ensure that I acquire a healthy friendship with my professors and students so that I will have someone to turn to in my academic life. This community will be beneficial in giving me a better understanding, positive motivation, and Fellowship that will lead to better development and achievement in my studies.

With these proactive and organized measures, I am set to ensure that I defeat all academic barriers that I have been faced with and score high grades as I pursue my s. These are actions that will not only aim at improving my poor performance in the past in my courses but also guarantee me for any future academic challenges which in turn will guarantee my academic and career future.

By following these guidelines with determination, careful planning, and the available resources from the university, I believe that I will be able to excel in my endeavor. I am eager to gauge my true potential and attain the educational Aim & objectives contributing favorably to the institution and society.

Sincerely, Alex Yehdego
