Petition Letter
Petition Letter: Hello Dr. Jenn Stephenson,
I hope this message finds you well. I am writing to request your consideration for granting me an aegrotat standing for my IN grade in CHEM282.
Due to extenuating acute health circumstance, I was unable to attend my deferred final CHEM282 exam in Kingston. This follows my previously withdrawn academic appeal submitted in May. I have included a note from an off-campus physician supporting my academic absence.
After consulting with my professor, I learned that any opportunity to reschedule the exam would be delayed by several months. Given that CHEM282 is particularly challenging, I am very concerned that a prolonged delay would lead to a significant decline in my performance due to the material fading from my memory over time. I cannot afford a decrease in my GPA, as I am a graduating student relying on this final credit to accurately reflect my abilities and to succeed in continuing my academic journey.
I am appealing for an aegrotat standing because the responsibilities and challenges I am currently facing post-graduation are substantially stressful. I am working full-time to support myself independently, as I am estranged from my father and lost my mother at a young age. Additionally, I provide support to my extended family in the Philippines, who live in poverty. The added burden of an unfinished class weighs heavily on me, and I believe it would significantly hinder my success. I have included supporting documentation from my Queen’s counsellor, whom I have been seeing for several years, detailing the mental challenges that prevent me from completing the course.
Please let me know if you require any further details explaining my circumstances. Your understanding and support in this matter would be immensely appreciated. Thank you for your consideration.
Kind regards,
Charlize Delos Reyes Cash
