To whom it may concern,
I would like to enroll in ENSC 501 for the Fall 2024/ Winter 2025 semesters. I was enrolled in a class during the Winter 2024 semester by my department and was not aware until February when it was too late to complete the course work. My department has acknowledge this should not have happened, although they did so with my best interests in mind. A hold was placed on my SOLUS account because of this, and I have recently been in touch with the registrar to remove the hold and they have done so. I was unaware that yesterday was the last day to add a class for the Fall 24' semester, and I require permission from the course instructor and the ENSC undergraduate chair to enroll in this course. They were unable/unwilling to do so upon short notice, but I will be meeting with them via video call on Thursday at 1 PM to figure out a plan. I have been away from my studies since 2019, and I have been struggling with narcolepsy since. I finally received stimulant therapy for treatment this past July, and it has been extremely successful. I feel ready to complete my degree, which has been a long time coming. This course is the final requirement of my degree program. I have already began researching a topic with the guidance of researchers from the Georgian Bay Land Trust and have a solid plan to complete the requirements of ENSC 501. I do not want to wait another year to complete this requirement. It has already been too long.
Thank you for considering my petition.
Best regards,
Hayden O'Brien

Academic Plan
Academic Plan: I have been treated for my disability and am very keen to finish my studies. Prior to my treatment, my symptoms have significantly limited my capacity for academic performance. I have support from researchers from the Georgian Bay Land Trust, whom I worked for over the summer, and have a meeting with Kristen Lowitt and Diane Orihel on Thursday at 1PM to arrange a plan and hopefully retain a supervisor from the school of environmental sciences. I have no doubt that I am prepared to and capable of completing the requirements of this course, and am very ambitious to do so after a five years of having nothing to show for the previous four years I had spent at Queen's. I do not currently have a letter from a professional to support my statement, but I could ask my neurologist for one if required.
Thank you,
Hayden O'Brien
