Petition Letter
Petition Letter: I am petitioning to enroll in a course past the academic deadline due to extenuating circumstances beyond my control. While waiting on academic advice on whether to drop a course (STATS263) and add another (ARTH436) I received unfortunate news from a family member's mental health that caused increased stress. The domestic issue was ongoing causing my attention to stray from school. This made me mistakenly believe that the deadline to add/drop classes was the 19th and not the 16th of September. Due to this unfortunate event, I am now only enrolled in 3 courses making me a part-time student. This violates my Canadian Visa, Work Study, and my federal financial aid which requires me to be enrolled as a full-time student.
Academic Plan
Academic Plan: My family member is now with a caregiver ensuring their safety and taking stress away from myself. My academic plan to succeed in the future is to maintain regular meetings with a counselor to ensure that my emotions during tough times do not distract me from school. Furthermore, if enrolled in the course I will ensure that I will do the course work that I missed immediately by block scheduling. Lastly if enrolled in the course it will fulfill my course load as a full-time student fulfilling the requirements for my Canadian Visa and my work-study at Queens University ultimately enabling me to graduate in Winter 2025.
