Petition Letter: Dear Dr. Stephenson (Associate Dean (Academic)),
Thank you in advance for your consideration of my request. I am petitioning to add LAW 207 (International Law) (Fall 2024). I was unable to add this course before the end of the add/drop period as there was a hold on my account. I had some challenges making my tuition payment this semester, but once the payment had been made, I attempted to add the course in solus and it notified me there was still a hold on my account. Because of this, I was unable to add the course on time. Additionally, I am looking to finish my degree this semester, and I only need one elective course to graduate this semester. Adding this course would allow me to finish my degree this semester as I have planned to do.
I have never before this instance made a late tuition payment, enrolled or dropped a course late, or submitted a petition. I am really hoping to be able to take this course this semester. As I will be joining the course late, I will ensure that I take the time to catch myself up, talk to the professor, and engage with the course materials so I can set myself up for success in this class. I have a light course load this semester, with only 2 seminars and hopefully 1 elective, so I will be able to dedicate the time needed to catch up and succeed in this course.

Academic Plan: I have never submitted a petition before and I have never previously had issues with having a hold on my solus account/paying tuition late/adding a course late. In the future, I will ensure that I speak with someone sooner, and if there was to be a hold on my account after payment I would attempt to have it removed before the add/drop period ended. I hope to graduate this semester, so hopefully this won't be an issue I encounter again. As I will be joining the course late, I will ensure that I take the time to catch myself up, talk to the professor, and engage with the course materials so I can set myself up for success in this class.
