Petition Letter: Dear Academic Committee,
I am writing to formally request permission to retake PSYC 100 past the course registration deadline. Ensuring a higher grade in this course is essential for my eligibility to switch from a General degree plan to the Psyc Honours degree plan, and I believe retaking the course will significantly enhance my understanding and performance that is needed in the subject matter.
During my initial attempt at this course in 2022, I faced extenuating mental health circumstances in which I have only received treatment for within the past 6 months. I struggled in developing the habits needed to succeed in this class and others. Despite my best efforts, these challenges hindered my ability to achieve my full potential in the course at that time, reflected in my grades from my first year.
I am committed to my academic growth, and know that retaking this course and being able to enter into the honours degree plan will be greatly beneficial to my future. I have taken steps to address the issues I previously faced, including seeking academic tutoring, and implementing stress management strategies into my life.
I understand the Universities policies, and I am willing to comply with any requirements necessary to facilitate this process. I truly appreciate your consideration of my request, and would be incredible grateful for the opportunity to demonstrate my commitment to my education.

Academic Plan: If i am granted permission to take PSYC 100 online, I will apply to enter the Honours major in Winter of 2025.
If accepted into the program, I plan to take the required courses PSYC 203, PSYC 301, and a 400 level seminar option in my fourth year. To allow me to take these courses in my last year, I will take my elective/ alternate required courses during the summer of 2025, to ensure I have enough credits come Winter 2026.
I have already fulfilled certain requirements for the honours degree plan, such as 12.00 units from 200 level PSYC courses, and 3.00 units from 4 300 level PSYC courses.
If accepted into the program, I plan to take the required courses PSYC 203, PSYC 301, and a 400 level seminar option in my fourth year.
