Petition Letter

Petition Letter: Hi there! Thank you so much for reviewing my petition.

I am submitting a petition to add a course to my fall timetable past the deadline because I am reaching for my dreams of becoming a nurse by applying and hopefully being accepted into the 2-year Accelerated Nursing Program. My QSAS form is being completed by my physician this week as I have been dealing with a lot of extra anxiety in regards to getting everything I need to get into this program from the conditions of GAD (Generalized Anxiety Disorder) which was diagnosed in 2020. It had gotten better through my first year but ever since last year's April exam season, it's gotten much worse. It's been a daily struggle for me and I've already gone back to counselling from the overweighing academic pressure that I'm under, though I am in the process and on track to complete all prerequisites (and redoing PSYC100 in order to boost my GPA as it was my lowest mark, a B-) except for needing 3.0 more credits. I only have 4 credit-granting courses for fall and 5 for winter, since redoing PSYC does not grant anything except a new grade, meaning I need 3.0 more credits to complete the 60.0 mandatory credits by April 2025. I planned on taking a summer course to make up for this, however, when I recently spoke to the nursing academic advisor, she stated all credits must be completed by April. By the point I'd learned this, the cutoff date to add courses for fall had already passed and since they left this out when I asked for the prerequisites. I've emailed many professors about courses I'd be interested in taking this fall which still appear to have spots. I've also submitted a request to take 7 courses in winter just in case, which I am willing to do, though it would add to the anxiety I'm experiencing and It is healthier for a student to have a balanced schedule. This constant worrying that has been heightened since I realized I had a passion for nursing and had to change career paths has affected my everyday life and relationships. I've sacrificed a lot to be here moving across Canada, and I take my grades and scholarship very seriously. Due to these reasons, I'd love some consideration to add a fall course to make my course load balanced to the slightest degree, as this would help my conditions that much more.

Thanks so much for reading and understanding.

Kind regards,

Maitreya
