Petition Letter
Petition Letter: Dear Dean's Office
My name is Talulla Cox and I am a second year arts and science student enrolled in the Biology-Psychology specialization of a BScH. I am writing to you today to request that you please consider allowing me to write all of my fall term examinations before December 15th 2024. On December 17th 2024 at 9:20 am I have been scheduled to receive a medical procedure in my hometown of Vancouver, BC. This is an appointment that I have been waiting on for many months, and was scheduled without my input. To reschedule is not an option due to the number of additional months of wait time that would result from it. My academics and integrity are very important to me and I would be more than willing to sign a confidentiality agreement banning me from indicating what is on my exams should you allow me to write them early. I would not make this request if I did not urgently require this procedure and I deeply appreciate your consideration.
The reason that I am requesting earlier exam dates rather than deferred exams is two-fold. Number one; the recovery time for my procedure is long and painful, which I believe will negatively impact my ability to perform at the standard I am capable of. Number two; deferring exams will allow me to prepare to a greater extent than other students (which I believe is unfair to them) and will impede my ability to start the new semester with confidence due to being distracted by studying for the previous semesters' exam.
Thank you very much for your time and I look forward to hearing from you soon.
Sincerely,
Talulla Cox

Academic Plan
Academic Plan: Writing early examinations will be difficult due to the volume of content I will need to be familiar with extremely close together. The benefit of my request is that these dates continue to allow my exams to be written during the university-wide scheduled examination period. I am quite good at managing my time and feel confident that I will be able to prepare to the extent that I require even with how hectic my exam schedule will become should you grant my request. This request will not impact my long term degree plan, but will allow my quality of life to increase exponentially, positively impacting every aspect of my life, including academics.
