Submit an Academic Petition or Appeal

Petition Letter: I attended Queen's in person for six years, as it was necessary to take a reduced course load for much of that time for reasons related to a disability. Because of the extended time I took in school, my father is no longer willing to help me pay for rent in Kingston and I have had to move back in with my mother in Toronto. I only have four courses remaining in order to complete my degree, and I would be heartbroken to fall short by so few courses after the extensive time and effort I have put into my schooling. I had hoped to take a few online courses in order to finish out my degree, but I have already taken virtually every available course related to both Gender Studies and Psychology. There are also no available 300-level Gender Studies courses online, and I require one more 300-level Gender Studies course in order to meet my degree requirements. If I were to take four courses at York University in the winter, it would allow me to finally finish my degree requirements and move to the next stage of my life (hopefully in the workforce, making my own money rather than fully relying on parents for help).
