Petition Letter: I hope this letter finds you well. I am reaching out to you with a heavy heart, seeking understanding and support regarding my academic standing in the course. Over the past three months, I have faced a series of deeply distressing personal challenges that have severely impacted my mental health and, unfortunately, my ability to focus on my studies. I want to be as open as possible about my situation to help you understand why I am reaching out now, even though I could not act earlier.
The last several months have been an incredibly difficult time for me. Due to ongoing grievances within my family, as well as several private matters that have unfolded, I have developed extreme anxiety. The mental toll these issues have taken on me has been profound, and I have not experienced such a low point in my mental health in a long time. Despite my efforts to maintain a semblance of stability, the weight of these personal matters has been overwhelming, and my emotional and psychological state has become more fragile with each passing week.
Just as I was beginning to feel like I was regaining some sense of control, I received an urgent call from my parents in Toronto on November 31st. They informed me of an emergency at home requiring my immediate presence. This sudden family crisis meant that my full attention had to shift to supporting my loved ones, and my academic responsibilities had to take a backseat. Given the nature of the situation, I was unable to make decisions about my coursework at that time, and I missed the critical deadline to drop the course.
I understand that deadlines are important, and I sincerely regret that I was unable to address this matter earlier. However, my family’s well-being became my foremost priority, and it was simply not possible for me to navigate both the urgent personal crisis and my academic commitments at the same time.
I am writing now to ask for your understanding and support during this challenging time. I would deeply appreciate any accommodations or guidance you might be able to offer regarding my situation. I am committed to my education, but right now, my mental and emotional health is in a very fragile state, and I hope we can work together to find a solution that takes my circumstances into account.
