During the summer of 2024, I was notified that I was not permitted to proceed to an Honours degree because my cumulative GPA was below 1.90. At that time, this decision appeared to be appropriate based on the information available. However, it was later determined that a grade calculation issue in PHYS 317 directly affected my GPA and contributed to this situation.
Specifically, my final project grade in PHYS 317 was not included in the original evaluation. Academic Plan: A. Course of Study
I am currently enrolled in the Bachelor of Science General Math program and plan to apply for graduation next semester. While I am eligible to graduate with a General degree based on my current academic standing, I have enrolled in three additional courses to meet the requirements for the Honours degree (major in Mathematics, minor in Physics).
Following the recent grade reassessment in PHYS 317, my cumulative GPA now meets the threshold of 1.90 required for Honours degree status. Completing these three courses will fulfill all academic requirements for the Honours degree. I have carefully reviewed my Academic Advisement Report on SOLUS and consulted with my academic advisor to ensure the accuracy and feasibility of this plan.
B. Workload Expectations
In my final semester, I will take three courses, which will allow me to meet the graduation requirements for the Honours degree program. I greatly value the opportunity to pursue the Honours designation, as it aligns with my academic and career aspirations.
