Submit an Academic Petition or Appeal

Petition Letter: I am writing to formally request a re-evaluation of my grade in CISC 101. Despite my utmost dedication to this course, I received an F on the final exam and in my overall performance. This outcome is devastating to me both academically and personally, and I am seeking your assistance to ensure my efforts are fairly recognized.
Throughout the term, I have worked diligently, attending lectures, completing assignments, and actively engaging with the course material. However, I have consistently struggled with testing due to severe test anxiety and related challenges. I am currently managing my mental health with antidepressant medication and have sought professional help to address these difficulties. Unfortunately, despite these efforts, my test performance does not reflect the effort and understanding I have devoted to this subject.
Failing a course again, as I did last year, would have dire consequences for my academic journey. I am committed to succeeding and have demonstrated resilience and determination by persevering and striving to improve. A failing grade would jeopardize my progress, and I implore the school to consider a comprehensive review of my exam answers and overall contributions to the course.
I believe a re-evaluation could provide a clearer picture of my understanding and commitment. If possible, I would appreciate an opportunity to discuss this matter further or to explore alternative options for demonstrating my knowledge, such as additional coursework or oral assessments.
