To whom it concerns,
I am writing to request permission to drop ANAT 312 for the fall 2024 semester after the deadline due to unforeseen mental health challenges. My mental illness has significantly affected my ability to concentrate in this course, and I hope you will consider this request as an exception.
Over the past 2 years I have struggled tremendously with mental health difficulties including severe anxiety due to my generalized anxiety disorder. These issues have impacted my abilities to focus on my responsibilities and I am unable to perform to the best of my capabilities. Despite seeking support to help manage these issues, I have still suffered from trouble focusing to meet the demands of this course. I believe that dropping this course is best for my mental health and ensure I can successfully complete my remaining responsibilities.
I understand the importance of following academic deadlines, and I regret not addressing this situation earlier. However, I found it difficult to recognize the extent of my limitations in time. Dropping this course will allow me to prioritize my health while continuing to work toward my academic goals of graduating.
To support my request, I have included a letter from my physician explaining my anxiety and its impact on my academic performance. I am able to provide additional information, if necessary.
