I am writing to formally request a reconsideration of my grade for the CHEM 213 final exam, which I was unable to perform adequately on due to extenuating personal circumstances beyond my control.
In mid-December, my grandmother back home in London, Ontario became seriously ill. This emergency required me to travel home unexpectedly to provide support. Consequently, I was unable to return to campus until the morning of the exam on December 18th. Unfortunately, the time spent away, combined with the emotional distress of the situation, left me without adequate time to prepare for the exam and unable to focus properly during the test itself.
This course is a crucial prerequisite for my program, and earning this credit is vital for my academic progression. Without it, I risk being unable to complete the required courses on schedule, delaying academic continuation. The implications of this delay are significant both academically and personally, as it would affect my ability to move forward with my career plans.
I fully understand the importance of maintaining academic standards, and I deeply regret the impact of these unforeseen circumstances on my performance. I respectfully request that the committee consider my situation and grant a reversal of my failed grade for this exam.
Thank you for your understanding and for considering this request.
Sincerely,
Clayton Beckles
