Petition Letter
Petition Letter: To Whom it May Concern,
My name is Ty Verstraeten, and I am a Queen's student going into second year. It is unfortunate that I must write this letter, given the circumstances. My academics mean a great deal to me, and normally no excuse would suffice, but extraordinary circumstances have a tendency to change things. In March of this year, my father Clyde Drover passed away suddenly of a heart attack. A 51 year old firefighter, his death came very unexpectedly and hit very hard. This duress came with the added pressure of final exams taking place right around the corner. So it is with a heavy heart that I ask for a degree of sympathy regarding my final marks. This university means a great deal to me. Queen's was my first choice since I began browsing for schools a few years back. This is why I am completing this appeal; to ensure that a personal tragedy in the worst of times does not set the tone for my university career. Thank you for your time and your consideration.
Sincerely, Ty Verstraeten
