Petition Letter: During the period leading up to the drop deadline, I had to travel to Montreal unexpectedly to support my grandmother, who is very elderly and in poor health. Her condition worsened significantly, and my family was deeply worried about her well-being. Being the closest family member who was available to assist her, it became my responsibility to step in and provide her with the care and support she needed during this challenging time.
While in Montreal, I took on a central role in helping her manage daily life. I was with her nearly 24/7, assisting with everyday tasks, coordinating her care, and attending medical appointments to ensure she had the support she needed. Given her age and fragile health, it was critical for her to have someone by her side, and I felt it was important for me to be there, both practically and emotionally. My family relies on me for support in these situations, and this was no exception.
This was an incredibly emotional and taxing time for all of us. The urgency and gravity of her situation required my complete attention and left little room for me to focus on anything else, including my academic responsibilities. I was fully committed to being there for my grandmother and helping her through what was a very difficult period in her life.
Unfortunately, amidst everything going on, I missed the deadline to drop the course. I did not intend for this to happen, but the extraordinary circumstances with my grandmother took precedence. My focus was entirely on her well-being and ensuring she wasn’t alone during such a critical time.
I deeply regret missing the deadline, as I understand the importance of adhering to these timelines. However, I hope you will consider the unique and unforeseen nature of this situation in reviewing my request. This was an exceptionally difficult time for my family, and I appreciate your understanding and consideration as I work to address this issue.
Thank you for your time and support.
