Submit an Academic Petition or Appeal

Petition Letter: Hello,

I am writing to formally petition for an extension of my deferred exam for STAT 263, originally scheduled for January 17th. Due to ongoing health challenges, I am unable to write the exam during the allotted time frame and respectfully request an alternative arrangement.

Last semester, I faced a significant health condition that prevented me from completing my academic year as planned. Despite my best efforts to recover during the break, my condition has persisted, and I remain unable to write the deferred exam at this time. These circumstances, beyond my control, have directly impacted my ability to perform academically and meet the course requirements.

The events affecting my health began in late November, and I have continued to manage these challenges through consultations with health care practitioners in both Toronto and New York over the break. I deferred my exams with the hope that I would be well enough to complete them by now, but unfortunately, this has not been the case.

I have been in communication with Professor Molson and have requested his support in this petition. Together, I hope to develop an academic plan that aligns with university policies and ensures the successful completion of this course. One potential solution I would propose is rescheduling the exam to a later date, even if that means writing it during the summer.

I deeply value the opportunity to complete this course and am committed to fulfilling my academic responsibilities.
