Petition Letter

Petition Letter: Hello,
My names Hayden Carter and I’m asking for an extension on my exam due to mental health and other issues. In November I started to struggle heavily with increased symptoms of anxiety and depression caused from thoughts about school and catastrophic rumination's about my daily life. It made it difficult to start and focus on work because I couldn’t get out of my own head leading so hard situations. After coming home from exams, my symptoms got worse even though I didn’t struggle when I was back at home, causing concern for my parents. I started seeing my therapist again and spoke to my doctor about taking antidepressants. Due to my general anxiety disorder my doctor thought it was best for me to try it. Once receiving the medication I was told the anxiety symptoms would become worsen the already existing anxiety and depression making it hard to do almost any task. My doctor mentioned symptoms can exist for up to 4-6 weeks. After starting the pills in the new year I felt the symptoms were extremely overwhelming and crippled my ability to study let alone doing back day to day tasks. I’m asking for the extension in order for the side effects to become more manageable and have reduced anxiety and depression. I just finished my 2nd week and haven’t noticed a difference and that’s why I’m using my full ability to write this petition. After speaking to my parents and therapist they suggested that I got my exam moved as they were worried that it might exacerbate the symptoms putting me into a hole I might not be able to get out of.

There will be an attached document from my clinical psychologist verifying the situation. The document is classified so it was a password. It is 17062004.

Thank you for your consideration and I could also get supporting documentation from the doctor if needed.
