Petition Letter

Petition Letter: To whom it may concern,

I am writing to express my interest in reenrolling in LLCU 244 if space opens and my profound regret in withdrawing from the class. Before the deadline, I had exceeded my course limit and had to drop one course. However, I was not in the correct mental state to make decisions due to high anxiety levels and stress from school, work, and the upcoming inauguration of Donald Trump and threats of a trade war. As such, my decision was one of panic instead of logic.

Upon dropping the course and realizing my mistakes, my mental health and well-being have been severely impacted. In the past few days, I have had several panic attacks and breakdowns, sometimes in class, as I am unable to get over my mistake. I am struggling to sleep and focus as my mind is consumed with worry and beating myself up inside. These breakdowns in class have caused me to lose focus in discussions and be unable to participate to the best of my ability, losing marks in the process. Additionally, while doing readings for other classes, I am reminded of my regret and breakdown again, impacting my ability to study. If I continue down this path of regret, I fear my studies will be further impacted.

I attended every lecture for LLCU 244 before dropping it, and I still have a copy of the syllabus, allowing me to keep up to date with the required material. As such, I would not be starting late but resuming my studies. If given the chance to rejoin (if space becomes available), my overall well-being and academic performance will improve as I will be comfortable with my choices.

I understand that space is limited; however, if a spot opens in the class, I would be grateful for an opportunity to right my wrongs and take a class I would love in the final semester of university.
I am desperate for a chance and will work twice as hard to prove that I deserve the spot.

Sincerely,

Maddie Service

Academic Plan

Academic Plan: To whom it may concern,

If I can reenroll in LLCU 244, I will ensure that I am a most productive student, completing all assigned material, contributing to class discussion, and performing well on all assignments and tests.
I believe this change will be greatly beneficial to my mental health as I will be comfortable with my choices. However, I am well aware at this point that I have severe anxiety, something that runs in my family, and I can no longer go untreated. As such, I plan to seek help through counselling and mental health professionals to learn to cope with this.

During my time at Queen's, I have performed well academically, and I will continue to strive for this high performance if given this chance.

Sincerely,

Maddie
