Petition Letter: I am requesting to be added to STAT 486 because I recently learned that it is a required prerequisite for the graduate programs I am applying to, not taking this course will prevent me from attending the grad school I hope to attend. Unfortunately, I was not made aware of this requirement until after the course add deadline had passed, despite my careful planning for graduate school. Missing this course would significantly impact my ability to meet the admission criteria for these programs, delaying my academic and professional goals by a year. I am fully prepared to complete any missed coursework and am committed to putting in the necessary effort to succeed in this course. I would greatly appreciate the opportunity to enroll so that I can stay on track with my graduate school plans. I have support from both the instructor of the course, and the undergraduate chair of Mathematics and Statistics in this request.

Academic Plan: If my petition is granted, I have a clear plan in place to ensure my academic success in this course. I have already communicated with the instructor and the Undergraduate Chair of Mathematics and Statistics, who have both expressed their support. To catch up on any missed material, I will review lecture notes, complete past assignments, and seek additional guidance from the instructor as needed. I am fully prepared to dedicate extra time to ensure I master the course content.
Furthermore, I will utilize university resources such as office hours, academic support services, and peer study groups to reinforce my understanding. Given my strong academic background, I am confident in my ability to quickly integrate into the course and perform well. Successfully completing this course is essential for my graduate school journey, and I am committed to putting in the necessary effort to meet and exceed expectations.
