Petition Letter

Petition Letter: Hello,

My name is Hayden Carter, and I am a third-year economics student. I am applying for the second-level petition due to the extreme nature of the situation. Throughout my first semester, I started to experience high levels of anxiety and depression but tried to fight through it because I thought I would get better with time, but the opposite happened. I went home for Christmas break and felt horrific, with my anxiety and depression ruining my at-home experience, which is usually a really happy time for me. My parents noticed the mood change and suggested that I start medication and start therapy again. After consulting both professionals, they agreed it was something that I should have started earlier but should begin immediately. I was warned of the side effects by both my doctor and therapists that I would feel worse before I would begin to feel any positive changes for weeks at a time. I started the medication in early January, causing the negative feelings to kick in reasonably heavily, making it challenging to function on a daily basis. It felt like I was having a panic attack every hour of the day, making it difficult to get out of bed, let alone concentrate on anything important in my life. That meant that studying for the exam was impossible, as the concept of it crippled me. I spoke to my therapist, and he suggested that I should have it pushed back until the medication has me feeling somewhat normal. After talking to my doctor, he prescribed a low-dosage tranquillizer just so I could experience my life just a little bit. We spoke, and he suggested that if an exam wasn't possible, maybe an assignment would better match the situation I am experiencing, as he is worried about what a 3-hour exam might have on my anxiety, but I would just love the opportunity to prove myself as I'm going through a hard time due to external issues relating to my decline in my mental health.

I will attach a letter from my doctor and therapist. My doctor would be more than happy to add more information pertaining to my situation if requested.

The code to my therapist document is 17062004

Thank you so much,
Hayden
