Petition Letter
Petition Letter: Dear Petition and Appeals Committee,
I hope you’re doing well. I am submitting this petition to request a waiver of the 21-day deadline so I may formally petition for the removal of my CISC 101 grade from my transcript.
When I took CISC 101 in Fall 2023, I had not yet formally joined the Computing program and was still in the early stages of adjusting to university life. That term was particularly difficult for me as I was navigating life on my own for the first time after losing my mother. While I did my best to push through, I struggled academically during that period. However, since then, I have found my stride and made significant progress, earning a B in CISC 121 and an A- in CISC 124, both of which build upon and go beyond the material covered in CISC 101.
I understand that CISC 101 is not a required course for my degree, and SOLUS states that students who take CISC 121 cannot take CISC 101, which suggests that 121 serves as a sufficient replacement. I am more than willing to retake CISC 101 if necessary, but given that I have already demonstrated my ability to succeed in more advanced computing courses, I was hoping to explore whether there is an option to remove my original 101 grade instead. Since retaking the course wouldn’t introduce any new material for me and is not a requirement, I would greatly appreciate the opportunity to adjust my transcript so that it better reflects my current academic standing.
I completely understand that policies are in place for fairness, and I respect the petition process. I simply wanted to reach out and ask if an exception might be possible in my case. I truly appreciate your time and consideration in reviewing this request, and I would be happy to provide any further information if needed.
