Petition Letter

Petition Letter: To whom it may concern:
Hope this letter finds you well.
I am Jasmine Kong with student number 20260304, I am writing this letter because I want to apply a petition to defer the exams for my PHGY 215, STAT 263 and ANAT 100. The situation for this is kind of complex, I suppose to finish the exams in this term, but because this term I need to deal with new courses, so at that time the tasks from these courses were getting too close to each other so at that time I don't have that much energy to deal and face to it... But right now things changed, I am pretty sure right now I have enough. energy to finish the exams as I felt much better after meeting with people professional in Student Wellness. Right now I almost finish every assignment on time so I really know that I can finish the exams well as long as I got the chance to do that. Plus, I am pretty sure I will stay in Kingston for most of the time this Summer, so I have enough courage to say that I have the ability to finish them! I know this kind of situation may bring some inconvenience but this is really important to me as I have finished two classes from Fall term in a not bad way so I really want to finish all of the courses from the term well. I promise this kind of situation will happen for the last time and I can promise that if something happen again in the Future, you can reject the request directly. But please please help me one last time....😭 This is really really important to me🄲.
Thank you for your help all the way and sorry for any inconvenience that I may have caused.
Best,
Jasmine

Academic Plan

Academic Plan: For the plan, I will firstly do my best to complete all of the courses in winter term as I promise no course would be incomplete for this term. At the same time, for the three courses that I applied this petition for. I have started to review all the things from the courses when I finish things I should do in winter term as I really want to do every class in the best way that I can do. About professional help, I have planed to meet with job counseling once I finished the big assignments that near due as I think it will be a good way to reduce my anxious feeling so that I can have more courage to face anything that needs to be done. What's more, for another problem that I might have which is called attention issue, I find a way to solve that, which is that I will set some clocks to remind me to start doing things that I should do, plus, I already tried to throw everything out of the space that for studying once I need to study because this really helps me to being focus on my task. All in all, I think things are getting better right now so I am sure that I can do anything that I have promised.

Decision(s) Being Appealed: Request an extension of an incomplete grade: PHGY 215, Fall 2024 (Christopher Ward)
Request an extension of an incomplete grade: STAT 263, Fall 2024 (Charles Molson)
Request an extension of an incomplete grade: ANAT 100, Fall 2024 (Leslie MacKenzie)

Appeal Grounds

Appeals to the Board of Studies must include a letter based on one or more of the Grounds for Appeal (Appeal Regulation 3.4). What are the grounds you are basing your appeal on?
  • The Associate Dean's decision did not follow the rules of procedural fairness. A breach of procedural fairness includes such things as the Associate Dean failed to:
    • Make a reasonable decision in your appeal. A ā€œreasonableā€ decision is one that is based on evidence, thought out and supported by facts and logical inferences from the facts. To be reasonable, the decision must contain adequate reasons for the conclusions.
Appeal Grounds Details: I have received the detail for the decision and it seems like my appeal can't be accept due to several reasons. But I think these are all reasons that I can explain so I really want to try one more time hardly because things that this appeal covered means a lot to me....

Appeal Letter

Appeal Letter: To whom it may concern:
Hope this letter finds you well
I received the email about details for decision that made by Associate Dean several days ago and I think the reason for not accepting my appeal can be summarized in two things. First is not all of my professors support to extent the grade, second is I think they may misunderstand the file that I submitted. But I think I can explain all of them as I really want to try one more time hardly for this petition as it's really important to me. The first reason I think the decision may can change is I really have done most of the work in the three courses as I only have one exam left to be done for each of the course, so I think it will be better for me to finish them instead of taking them all over again. Although I have to say that I didn't do very well in PHGY 215 and ANAT 100 because my emotional status still have ups and downs at that time, but I promise I will do my best for them right now as I think I have really backed on track tight now because I have done most of the work well this term and I never miss assignments right now expect for deferring exams for a really serious flu. So, I really can promise that I can do well in the two exams for courses as I really get the way on learning right now. For STAT 263, I finished all other works and even get a mark that's higher than 90 in Midterm, so I think it's not very reasonable for me to take it again, I deferred the exam for the course really just because at that time I have to do two experiments on the exam day plus I just experienced one thing that really made me down in my home so I think I may need time to take a rest, but I really can do it well and I also talked about this with the professor in this course, I think he didn't feel down about my request so I think I really need to just finish it. And for the document that I submitted from Mrs. Allison, I think it also support my idea because the date that covered by the file truly covered last term. The first thing I promise to myself this year is I will no longer just simply give up , so please, give me a chance to finish them, this means a lot to me.....
Thank you for your understanding and help
Jasmine

Documentation

I plan to submit additional documentation at a later date: If you needed, I think I can submit a letter from my family members to explain about my situation last term so you can know more clearly about why sometimes I still need to defer some exams even through I already finish two courses from the same term. If you nee please tell me I can submit it within a week.
