Dear Associate Dean:

Re: Request to Extend an Incomplete Grade

I (Student Number 07385671) was enrolled in CISC 121 in the 2015 winter (2151) term. Due to illness (please attached doctor¿¿s note) and family issues (my daughter was also sick for a month and a half) I asked Professor Powley for an incomplete grade, which she agreed to. I went to see the instructor on the 25th of June 2015 to arrange for me to repeat the course in the 2016 winter (2161) term, while working in Student Records I have seen the incomplete grade over more than one term. Professor Powley was in agreement with my request but informed me that it had changed and now you can only have an incomplete mark for one term and I would have to contact the Faculty of Arts and Science. I spoke with an Academic Advisor who indicated that I could appeal for an extension of my incomplete grade or to have a DR grade for the 2151 term, which is why I am submitting this appeal.

I understand that the course is offered in the summer 2155 term starting July 2nd 2015, but as I explained to Professor Powley I am a single mom working full time in Office of the University Registrar, and have children that are enrolled in sports in the evenings and require me to take them there, particularly my son who has Autism (see attached doctor¿¿s note). Since I have very little previous computer programing experience I would also like to take advantage of attending the labs which is not available with the online course, and the online course is at an accelerated pace since it is only six weeks long. I feel that I would be able to pass the online course if I tried but I really want to take the time and extra help provided in the winter term to actually learn the material. I am requesting to have the incomplete mark extended until the end of the 2161 term or to have the grade for the 2151 term changed to a DR, your consideration in this matter would be greatly appreciated.

Sincerely,
//signed//
Cynthia Graham
