Petition Letter
Petition Letter: Dear Sir/Madam,
I am writing to formally request an exception to the 6.0-credit limit for transfer courses at another institution. I plan to take BIOL 1000 and BIOL 1001 at York University over the summer, as I believe these courses are equivalent to BIOL 102 and BIOL 103 at Queen’s. However, Queen’s is only offering BIOL 102 (3.0 units) this summer and not BIOL 103, which means I would be unable to complete both courses within the same term if I were limited to taking them at Queen’s. Additionally, this 6.0-credit limit is a new restriction introduced this year, however, before coming to Queens I had already planned to take 2 courses at York to stay on track. Furthermore, BIOL 1000 and BIOL 1001 at York include an in-person lab component, which is necessary for my program and future professional goals, and these labs cannot be substituted with an online alternative. Since I live in the Greater Toronto Area, commuting to Kingston for only 3.0 credits in the summer is not a viable option. Given these circumstances, I respectfully request an exception to the transfer credit limit to allow me to take both BIOL 1000 and BIOL 1001 at York University for degree credit. I appreciate your time and consideration. I can provide any further information if needed. I look forward to your response.
Sincerely,
Aryana Parmar
