Submit an Academic Petition or Appeal

Petition Letter: I am writing to formally request academic consideration regarding my performance in the summer term of 2024. During this period, I experienced significant mental health challenges that severely impacted my ability to complete coursework and perform to the best of my ability. Unfortunately, I was not yet registered with Queen’s Student Accessibility Services (QSAS) at the time and did not receive the proper accommodations that could have supported my academic success.
As a result, I was unable to complete assignments and ultimately failed courses that

I believe do not accurately reflect my capabilities or potential. Since registering with QSAS and receiving appropriate accommodations, my academic performance has improved substantially. In the most recent academic term, I achieved a GPA of 3.76, clearly demonstrating the difference that adequate support has made in my ability to succeed.

I kindly ask that my circumstances during the summer 2024 term be taken into account and that the possibility of grade removal or academic relief be considered. I am fully committed to my academic progress and believe that with the right supports in place, my performance is a far more accurate reflection of my abilities.
