Petition Letter

Petition Letter: Dear Queen's University,

In this letter, I humbly request a grade adjustment for PSYC 100 for the Winter 2025 semester. The Teaching Assistant (TA) strike severely disrupted my study environment, negatively impacting my academic success despite my persistent attempts to excel in this course.

Both tutorials and lectures, which are essential parts of education and academic assistance, were cancelled or disrupted during the term due to the strike. I thus suffered a significant loss of possibilities for feedback, guided learning, and explanation of complex concepts. These uncontrollable interruptions had a direct impact on my ability to prepare adequately for projects and tests.

I was entirely focused on the course before the strike, attending all lectures and tutorials, submitting assignments on time, and actively participating in discussions. I did my best to adjust to the disruptions by seeking outside resources, studying independently, and reaching out to friends when possible. However, I was unable to properly grasp the course material due to the lack of tutorial instruction and TA help, which resulted in a final grade that did not fairly represent my proper comprehension and effort.

In light of these exceptional circumstances, I humbly request that my grade be adjusted to more accurately reflect the particular challenges I faced during the semester. This will help to avoid long-term academic repercussions that do not fairly represent my talents.

Thank you very much for your time and understanding.

Sincerely,
Ramana Karunakaran
