Petition Letter

Petition Letter: However, my mental state during these times was not great, my Mom made me very depressed. This made it difficult to study and focus on any task at hand. I became very unmotivated and upset when my Mom would act this way. I still struggle with being motivated to this day and I do feel like without her in my life I have improved a lot. I believe that this significantly affected me in both my first and second years, I would often go days without doing anything being upset over these issues or her behaviour. Third year, I believe that I was finally able to start to focus and not pay attention to what she was saying. This is very reflected in my grades as they significantly became better. I noticed such an improvement in myself as time went on here at Queens and as I started speaking to her less.
This is the best way I can summarize a few of the events that happened throughout university. Unfortunately, there are so many instances of abuse from my Mother that I cannot or feel uncomfortable explaining. Unfortunately, she can no longer be in my life for my mental health.
What I would like from this is a consideration in dropping a mark from Computer Science in my First Year (Failed) and potentially receiving credit on some of the courses I did poorly in such as PSYCH101 and ASTR 101 in the first year and POLS250 in the second year. During these three courses, I felt I was significantly impacted by my Mom as she had started fights during the examination period of these courses leaving me in a really bad state. During examination periods she will often increase her negative behaviour towards me. She is still doing it to this day as she was repeatedly calling me just yesterday as I stated prior. To further prove my case I would be willing to send recordings and text messages of all the specific instances I have detailed throughout this letter. I feel that is unnecessary at this time but if needed I will provide the proof.
It was extremely difficult for me to cut her off because of how her moods constantly switched and the fact that at the end of the day, she was my Mom. I would like to thank all my friends and family that I now have supporting me. I would often defend her by repeating things that she said “She was just a loving mom” etc. Unfortunately, I was young and indoctrinated by her, she has serious undiagnosed mental health issues that have had a significant toll on me. Despite this, if she ever did reach out for help from a professional, I would be there to support her.

With Respect,
Dante Jorge
