Petition Letter:
I am writing to formally request to receive a Credit (CR) designation for PSYC 331 instead of a letter grade, due to extenuating circumstances stemming from the recent strike action and issues surrounding my academic accommodations.
My professor for this course is a fellow and participated in the strike, which resulted in significant disruption to the delivery and assessment structure of the course. As a result, 90% of my final grade was based on the midterm exam. Unfortunately, due to a misunderstanding regarding my accommodations, I was unable to perform to the best of my ability on that assessment.
Had the course proceeded as originally planned, with the opportunity to complete the final essay and final exam, I believe I would have been able to demonstrate my understanding of the material and improve my overall grade. The strike, however, removed that opportunity, leaving my academic performance in this course unrepresentative of my true capabilities.
In light of these exceptional circumstances, I respectfully request that I be allowed to receive a CR for this course to avoid long-term academic consequences that are beyond my control.
Thank you for your time and consideration. Please let me know if any additional documentation or information is required to support this request.
Sincerely,
Jamie Cordeiro
