Petition Letter

Petition Letter: I am writing to formally request that I be granted a “Credit Received” (CR) grade for the KNPE 167 course taken during the Winter 2025 semester, in place of a final letter grade. This course was worth 3.0 units and was significantly impacted by the recent academic strike.

Due to the strike, I was only able to complete approximately three assignments for which feedback was provided. Unfortunately, both my professor and TA were absent for the remainder of the semester, leaving me without academic support. I was required to complete two major projects (literary reviews) without any opportunity to receive feedback—despite the fact that these projects were explicitly designed to be handed in after reviewing my TA’s feedback and making edits to my work.

The absence of guidance had a direct and substantial effect on my performance and final grade. The lack of feedback and instructional support during such critical parts of the course undermined my ability to demonstrate my full capabilities. I strongly believe that this grade does not accurately reflect my academic potential or effort under normal circumstances.

Given the exceptional nature of the disruption and the fact that the strike severely limited my ability to succeed in the course through no fault of my own, I respectfully request that a CR grade be applied. This option would allow me to receive credit for the work completed while not having my GPA unfairly affected by circumstances beyond my control.

Thank you for considering my petition. I am happy to provide any further information or documentation if needed.
