Submit an Academic Petition or Appeal

Petition Letter: I am writing this petition to get my grade in PHIL 303 changed to a credit. Due to the PSAC 901 strike I felt that it severely impacted my ability to perform well in this course. Even before the strike I found that responsiveness from TA’s and our professor dwindled down. I had sent an email about the second essay we had to write and the email was never replied to even though it was before the strike. This was important in helping me understand how to do this assignment. This now became an assignment that was worth a lot more than anticipated due to the fact that the grading weights changed. I also felt like the grade I received for my first essay was not fair and I tried to contest it. I found the instructions were not very clear and the feedback I received from the TA contradicted the instructions we were given by the professor. I took this class as an interested based course that I hoped to boost my average but ultimately it has lowered my average. I don’t feel that the grade weighting makes it fair to students and being given a grade for our final essay without any feedback is very frustrating especially when it brings down my average. I would really appreciate getting this grade changed to a credit standing as this strike severely impacted my performance and we missed out on so much time in this class. Thank you!
