Petition Letter
Petition Letter: I am writing to formally request a review of my final exam grade in ECON 280. I met with my course instructor to review the marked exam in detail, during which we went through each question together. Before reviewing my responses, the instructor outlined what she was looking for in an ideal answer. In nearly every case, my responses clearly reflected those expectations, demonstrating both a sound understanding of the course content and clear written communication.
The final grade I received was significantly lower than I’ve received in any other course, and I was surprised by the result, given my confidence with the material throughout studying for the final exam. This discrepancy is particularly concerning given that I did not find the course content difficult. Additionally, the overall class performance was notably low, with a midterm average of 46% and a final exam average of 51%.
Given the evidence from my exam review, the consistency of my answers with the grading expectations as explained by the instructor, and the unusual outcome compared to my academic record, I respectfully request a formal re-evaluation of my final exam by a second reader.
Thank you for considering this appeal.
Sincerely,
Andrew Keegan
