Petition Letter

Petition Letter: I am writing to respectfully petition for permission to add two online courses to the Summer Term. I recognize that this request comes after the official add deadline and appreciate your consideration of the circumstances that have brought me to this point.

I am currently in my fourth year and only two credits away from completing my degree. Unfortunately, the grades from my Winter Term courses were not released until after the Summer Term add deadline had passed. This timing prevented me from knowing whether I needed to enroll in additional courses to complete my program requirements. Once I learned that I had not successfully passed two Winter Term courses, the add period for Summer had already closed. The reason I did not pass these courses relates to a combination of full-time work commitments and the changes to exam formats caused by the recent strike. Balancing full-time employment while completing my final academic requirements proved more difficult than anticipated, especially with the unexpected restructuring of assessments. While I worked to manage my schedule and academic responsibilities, these challenges ultimately impacted my performance.

I have since taken steps to ensure that I have the time and focus to successfully complete the remaining courses. My new job does not begin until August, giving me significant availability to dedicate myself to these final credits. Additionally, I have already contacted the professors of the courses I wish to add, and they have expressed their willingness to accept me into the classes despite the late timing. I am committed to completing my degree requirements as soon as possible and believe that these courses will allow me to do so without further delay. I respectfully ask that this request be considered so that I may fulfill my final academic obligations and graduate in a timely manner.

Thank you very much for your time and consideration. I am happy to provide any further information if needed.

Sincerely,
Jonn Reid

• Utilizing available university resources as needed:
• Office hours and instructor communication
• Academic Advising if questions arise
• Peer support or study groups if offered online
