Petition Letter

Petition Letter: Hello petition office,

My name is Megan, and I have had the worst year of my life 2024-2025. I am asking that my grades be changed to CR for CISC 235 and CISC 203. Unfortunately my father passed away this year due to cancer. He had cancer for about 10 years and for the past 3 I have been going back and forth seeing my father in the ICU. In the end it was too much for him and we had decided to take him to hospice where he could peacefully meet his end. This happened during the month of September-october. I had decided to take the semester off but was convinced to keep taking one course. Unfortunately due to my mental state and having to go to funerals (My families from England so had to go back home) CISC 203 had to be prolonged into the winter semester

With my mental health doing a little better I had decided to bring up my dog with me to Kingston during my winter semester. On the day that we drove up and got to Kingston she started experiencing seizures and unfortunately passed away. Which led my mental health to go downhill. My father always wanted me to do well in school, so I decided to continue to do my winter semester, but had to hop on medication to help with my mental health.

Once we passed midterms and my mental health started getting better, my roommate decided to move out very unexpectedly, proclaiming her hatred for all of us. With this argument, threats of suicide were brought up and was dealt with right away. However, I have a long past of dealing with friends who have tried to harm themselves and this event brought back all of that trauma and my mental health again went downhill.

Then, the cherry on top, the strike happened. I experienced verbal harassment while walking to class, I also have friends who were TA’s and they told me I was a horrible person for going to class. So I had decided to finish the rest of the semester in my room, which with already having a bad mental health being locked in my room wasn’t the best idea.

I still tried my best in all my courses, but not showing up for class for my harder CISC 235 course, it reflected in my grade. With all of that going on as well I was unable to finish my last few assignments in CISC 203. With all these events that occurred to me this past year I am asking if these grades could be changed to a CR.

Many thanks, Megan Boyle
