Submit an Academic Petition or Appeal

Petition Letter: I hope you are doing well.

I just received my final grade for my Screenwriting 312 (I am a fourth-year student and will graduate in June).

This class was significantly disrupted due to the TA strike, which ultimately led to the class being cancelled for more than half the semester.

I received a C-, which does not reflect my academic discipline towards this course at all.

Unfortunately, this is the lowest mark I’ve received during my time at Queen’s, and I strongly do not believe it accurately reflects my abilities in this course, with the few assignments that were already graded with A’s and B’s.

Because of the strike, we as a class had limited instruction and feedback, making it extremely difficult to demonstrate my full potential during the semester, so I am confused about where this mark came from, considering the disruption was beyond my control. When the strike came in, we were told not to contact our instructor and that they should take our final mark. If all my future assignments were marked 0, is this where the C- came from?

It saddens me to know that this strike and the limited potential I had in this course caused a major impact on my overall GPA.
