Petition Letter: To whom it may concern:
Hope this email finds you well.
I am Jasmine Kong with student number 20260304, I am writing this letter because I received a letter that said I may need to drop out from school for one year several days ago, and I want to explain a bit about my situation and beg for a chance to continue studying. To be honest, I felt a little surprised when I firstly saw it, because I used to think that I will be asked to drop from school last year, but I never thought hat I will be asked to drop out this year as although I can't say I have best situation this year, but at least I have finished all the works expect for sometimes I will defer exams. But after talking with academic advisor, I started to realize that what problem has appeared during all my university years. I found that it's so true that I wasted too many chances to take classes and in the end they all became useless during the past two years. I was too worried about to be different from others (For example, too worried to graduate late) so I always choose lots of classes even I can't do that. Also, I was too scared to take exams, so sometimes this kind of anxious feeling will cause a series of bad reactions in my body that made me have to defer exams. Not only that, but this kind of feeling also made my mind become blank even when I was siting there and taking exams, think it's the main reason for why I can't do well in exam even this in winter as this kind of situation really happened very often before and struggled me for a long time just like what I used to tell my QSAS advisor and Student Wellness teacher. But after receiving the letter, I really realized that I have to overcome these things in a more complete and stronger way as soon as possible as I really don't want my study to be stopped and I know the time won't be wait for me again. So, I talked about all these troubles that I face with my sister and have found some good ways to solve them. For this, I will write more details in the plan part, I will just explain some outcomes until now. The summer classes has been opened for almost one month now and with using these methods, I think I am good at following the learning process right now as I am always in the same track with my professors and I didn't leave anything behind. Sometimes, I can even go ahead of them. So, I think I really have more energy now to face the new semester and I think I am good for continuing study. I know my GPA still seems to be not good for these two semesters, but I will try my best to make it become better as firstly I already in the process of preparing my deferred exams for MICR 221 and PHAR 100, and these two exams will happen in August and September just like the time I had scheduled with my professors and I will try my best to do it as well as I can. So, my mark for these two classes won't be the one it looks like right now. For Micr 221 I actually got 22 marks reduced and phar 100 I only got 14 marks reduced right now. As a result, I think I can get good marks for both of them after taking the two exams, thus, my GPA will be boosted up a bit. Additionally, for Phar 100 in Fall, I am still in the way for requesting a chance to complete it, but if it won't work, I will try to drop it. PHGY 216 is in the same situation right now, I am still waiting for response to complete deferred exam, but professor in this course also said that he will allow me to drop it if the exam can't be completed. Finally, I also will try to drop PHGY 215 with other classes after submitting this request just like what the academic advisor suggested. I think all these things will help with improving my GPA. All in all, I really have realized the problems that I have for my study right now and have found really helpful ways to solve them. This year is really important to me, I really want to continue study in the school, please give me one last chance, I really will do better this time.
Thank you so much for your help and sorry for everything happened.
Best,
Jasmine

Academic Plan
Academic Plan: I have carefully scheduled everything that I need to do everyday in a detailed timeline. After learning and making notes for each module per class, I will let my sister to ask questions based on the notes. If I got something wrong or forgotten, I will make flashcards for them and put them everywhere to review and be tested in different ways until I got it exactly right. We ensured that I will study 6 hours per day, and I think it's a perfect for me as I really learned something without getting too tried. After finishing study, we go outside almost everyday now to do something I like such as taking photos so that I can truly relax myself and have more energy to do work. What's more, for overcoming anxiety for exams, I will do one past paper per day about a week before the exams while treating them like real exams to get used of that feeling. I will also keep getting in touch with Student Wellness and QSAS because I think all my advisors are warm and helpful. I also plan to contract with career advisor tomorrow so I can get a clearer plan for the future as I found that I have a little knowledge about the careers I can do after finishing LISC program, and I think have a clear future plan would be very helpful in reducing my anxiety. I will also start to look at all the classes that I have taken before rather than just deal with this passed year's classes just like what the academic advisor suggested. I will start with getting good marks in Summer to prove what I said, so please give me one last chance, I really will do better this time!

Decision(s) Being Appealed: Waive the requirement to withdraw for one year
Appeal Grounds
Appeals to the Board of Studies must include a letter based on one or more of the Grounds for Appeal (Appeal Regulation 3.4). What are the grounds you are basing your appeal on?
- The Associate Dean's decision did not follow the rules of procedural fairness. A breach of procedural fairness includes such things as the Associate Dean failed to:
- Follow the university rules and regulations in a way that supported your right to a fair process.
- Make a reasonable decision in your appeal. A “reasonable” decision is one that is based on evidence, thought out and supported by facts and logical inferences from the facts. To be reasonable, the decision must contain adequate reasons for the conclusions.
Appeal Grounds Details: Dear Members of the Board of Studies,
I am writing to appeal the decision to impose a one-year withdrawal from my program. I respectfully request that the Board reconsider this outcome on the grounds of procedural unfairness and unreasonable judgment. Specifically, the withdrawal was decided before my deferred exam results, as two of my classes named PHAR 100 and MICR 221 have both been approved for deferred exams that already scheduled to take place around August to September 2025. Although the deferred request for PHGY 216 was not approved by the professor, but he has expressed willingness to support my drop from the course. Thus I believe the grade will not included in my GPA calculation. If these grades change, I believe that my GPA would exceed the minimum requirement. From my perspective, this violated the principle outlined in the Academic Progress Regulation, which states that academic standing should be assessed based on a complete academic record. Additionally, the review of my petition also overlooked the academic improvement I have made since Fall 2024, across three consecutive terms (Fall 2024, Winter 2025, and Summer 2025), compared to my earlier performance. It also failed to take into account my improved health condition and the academic plan I have developed. Thus, I think the conclusion reached to say that I have

Appeal Letter: Dear Members of the Board of Studies,
Just like what requested, I want to address specific points raised in the Associate Dean's decision.
First, the decision letter stated that, since registering with QSAS, my record showed a continued pattern of unsuccessful terms.
