Petition Letter

Petition Letter: Due to unforeseen circumstances including a concussion at the beginning of the semester and the TA strike towards the end, I definitely felt as though my learning was greatly affected in the winter semester thus making my official final grade heavily affected by these circumstances. Undergoing a concussion three days before the semester started was not the plan for me, and while this was my 5th concussion in 2 years it was a tricky one. I was unable to focus as well, had to limit my screen time, had to take frequent breaks when trying to solve problems, and overall was not at my best learning capacity. This made for the beginning to be extremely difficult to try and grasp new concepts in math and try to follow along online. Second, I feel as though with the TA strike and making one of our tests weighted more and not having more chances to prove my learning made for a worse mark as I was concussed at the beginning and was not at my best. Because there was more weight put on the earlier quizzes, I found that I was not able to show my learning as well as if we continued on as normal without the guidelines that came from the strike. I feel as though at the end of the year I was impacted because I was not able ask questions as frequently and go to some of the problem solving sessions as the west campus sessions were closed for a period of time, and the emails that I sent took a while to return as they were very busy. I think that overall, these factors greatly affected my final MATH 124 mark.
