Submit an Academic Petition or Appeal

Petition Letter: Hello,

I am not exactly sure how to state this in the most concise way but, I wish to drop the grades that I have failed in order to improve my academic average. I have no justification for this request other than I was simply depressed and had a hard time getting out of bed in the morning and was in such a state of mind that my education had faltered as a result. I had 3 recent deaths in the family and my father had a cancer scare, and had an operation gone wrong. I have nothing to appeal to but your sympathy. As of now, I have practically completely restarted my time here at Queens. I am back to taking first year classes and have not failed a single class since coming back this fall. I would just like the chance to restart my university education properly and not be burdened by the mistakes I made when I was in the grasp of severe depression followed by a lot of family tragedy. I thank you so much for taking the time to read this and I look forward to hearing back from you. I am so sorry about how long I took to do this as well as the fact that it even happened in the first place.
