Petition Letter

Petition Letter: I am writing to request an extension of a deferred mid-year exam for MATH 121. Twice this academic year, I was unable to write my mid-year exam. Both times, I was quite ill, and the timing of these illnesses prevented me from completing the mid-year exam. Now, the extent of my extenuating situation is personal; it is to do with family and friends. Due to the situation, I was unable to write the deferred exam during the school year when I had scheduled it and even on May 31st when I had to reschedule it. During both of those dates, I had meetings regarding the situation which prevented me from writing the exam. Now, I had explained my situation to my instructor in detail, and after I told her I was unable to write the exam on the 31st, she understood that my situation had gotten worse; I had made that clear. So, she agreed to support me in a petition to extend the deferral of the mid-year exam. I had also had a discussion with my academic advisor as well as the Faculty of Arts and Science Petitions. My personal situation had caused some mental health issues, and I had to take the necessary steps to get myself healthy again. I would be ready to write my exam sometime before August 31st, which I will discuss with my instructor should this petition get granted. If you would like more details on my situation or proof of any kind, please don't hesitate to reach out to me.
