Petition Letter: I have been struggling with depression and anxiety since I was younger, and just recently I was diagnosed with ADHD. My mental health has been declining since I got to university, and I didn't know where and how to get help, and not knowing that I had ADHD made it a lot harder. I couldn't focus on the lectures and was always distracted, and the anxiety made me scared to study and eventually it all spiralled. My anti-depressant dosage eventually got higher, and it made me more tired and unfocused. There was a point where I couldn't take it regularly and didn't eat, which made me even more anxious. This reflected badly on my academic performance. I could barely get out of bed, go to lectures, or retain information.
In May, I came home to Vietnam to be with my family and have been receiving treatment and focusing on my mental health. I switched meds and have been speaking to a therapist twice a week, making goals for myself, exercising, and I am doing better.
I couldn't submit my petition in time due to my mental health. When I first got back, I wasn't doing well and was very anxious. I couldn't check my emails or my grades due to fear, and because I was still unsure about whether or not I can trust myself, I missed the deadline. Now, I am actively making an effort to resume my education with the support of my partner, friends, and family.
