Submit an Academic Petition or Appeal

Petition Letter: After 4 consecutive years in Kingston, during which I faced numerous personal challenges and struggled to maintain consistent academic performance due to personal circumstances (mostly family-related). I decided to take active ownership of my wellbeing and behaviour, by taking a year off my studies to build better habits through employment. After demonstrating excellence at Queen's University's AIESEC chapter, I was invited to run their operations across the country from AIESEC Canada's headquarters in Toronto on a one-year contract.

I took this opportunity to develop myself and break the cycle I've been stuck in for the past 4 years, and originally planned to keep up with my studies at the same time by enrolling in one course (I enrolled in PHAR 380 for Fall 2024). However, this job was intensely demanding, with our team often working 15 hours without days off - so I dropped the course I had enrolled in.

It seems, through either a technological or personal error, that I was also enrolled in PHGY 216 during the Winter 2025 term. This went unnoticed to me, as I was so busy with the challenges of running a national non-profit organization that I was not checking my Queen's email or status. I never had any intention of returning to Kingston for the Winter 2025 term to complete this class, so I had no reason to check.

This summer, after completing an intense but incredibly fulfilling year as VP Operations of AIESEC Canada Inc., I discovered that I had not only been enrolled in these courses, but was charged for tuition and graded an F. I completely understand why this happened, but I would like to correct the records as I was never in Kingston to take this course in the first place.

Therefore I am asking for the course to be dropped, as this is a course I have already taken before and do not wish to waste the opportunity to take again—properly. I am eager to finalize this challenging but rewarding chapter of my life as a student at Queen's University, and I am humbly asking for assistance to prevent a simple error from ruining it.
