Petition Letter
Petition Letter: Dear Associate Dean,
I am a fourth-year international student, and my name is Yuda Hu. A few days ago, I realized that the units shown as needed in SOLUS include courses that I have already enrolled in but not yet completed. Because of this, I mistakenly underestimated the number of courses required for my final semester. Initially, I believed I only needed 12 units to graduate, but after finalizing my course selection, I discovered that I actually need an additional 9 units. This means I may need to take 7 courses in Fall 2025 in order to meet my graduation requirements.
As an international student, graduating on time is extremely important to me. A delay would not only increase my living expenses significantly but also disrupt my academic and career plans. I am therefore reaching out to ask for your support.
Under the guidance of Professor Daralyn, I have already completed the Course Overload Request Form. At the same time, she kindly reminded me that, if possible, I could also complete one of the courses externally through a Letter of Permission (LOP) after the overload request is approved. This would help reduce my study load and better balance my course schedule. I would therefore like to ask if I may obtain your permission to pursue this option.
Thank you very much for your time and understanding. I greatly appreciate your consideration, and I wish you a wonderful day.
Sincerely,
Yuda Hu

Academic Plan
Academic Plan: My original plan was to take 5 courses at Queen’s while applying for two Letters of Permission (LOP) to complete 2 elective courses externally in Fall 2025. However, I understand that even obtaining one LOP approval may already be quite difficult. Therefore, I am also prepared to take 6 courses at Queen’s if necessary. This option would still be much more manageable than taking 7 courses and would also provide me with greater flexibility in arranging my schedule. I hope you will kindly consider my proposal, and I sincerely thank you again for your time.
