Petition Letter: I am writing to formally appeal for the removal of courses from my academic transcript. During the semester in which these courses took place, I was experiencing severe mental health challenges that were entirely beyond my control. These challenges required repeated hospitalizations and ongoing medical care, which directly impaired my ability to meet the academic requirements of my courses.
The circumstances began in Fall 2021 and continued through Summer 2023. During this time, I was in and out of the hospital, attending medical appointments, and working with healthcare professionals to manage my condition. As a result, I was unable to complete coursework or prepare adequately for assessments. The impact of these circumstances was significant and directly responsible for the academic outcomes reflected on my transcript.
I recognize that I am submitting this petition after some time has passed. The reason for this delay is that my focus until now has been on recovery and stabilization of my mental health. Only recently have I reached a point, with the support of my healthcare team, where I have the stability and clarity to properly address the academic consequences of that period. It is for this reason that I am now able to submit my petition with the necessary documentation and explanation.
While I did seek treatment and followed the guidance of my healthcare providers, the severity of the situation meant that my academic performance could not reflect my true abilities as a student. I can provide documentation from my healthcare providers to support my account and to confirm the duration and severity of these circumstances.
I respectfully request that the Committee consider removing the affected courses from my transcript, as they do not accurately represent my academic potential or commitment to my studies. Granting this petition would allow me to move forward in my program without the undue burden of circumstances that were beyond my control.
