Petition Letter
Petition Letter: Dear,
I am writing to formally petition for consideration regarding the late submission of my Executive Report in [Course Code/Title]. I respectfully request a review of my situation in light of extenuating family circumstances that were beyond my control and that directly affected my ability to meet the course deadline.
On July 19, I was urgently required to travel to Jordan due to a family emergency. My grandfather underwent a dangerous surgery and was admitted to the intensive care unit, and his condition was life-threatening. I departed for Jordan just after the deadline, which was July 18. Due to international travel, time zone differences, and the need to remain at the hospital for most nights to support my family, I was unable to complete and submit the Executive Report on time.
Unfortunately, on August 10, my grandfather passed away. This loss placed an additional emotional and practical burden on me and my family. I have supporting documentation, including hospital records, proof of travel, and a death certificate, which I can provide to substantiate my petition.
These circumstances had a significant impact on my academic performance, specifically on this assignment, which is a major component of the course grade. While I take full responsibility for the late submission, the emergency circumstances made it impossible for me to meet the deadline despite my best intentions.
I understand the importance of accountability in academic work, and I am willing to accept a fair late penalty as determined by the instructor. However, I kindly request that my work still be considered for grading rather than excluded entirely. This course is my final requirement for the completion of my undergraduate degree, and the outcome has a direct impact on my GPA and timely graduation.
I greatly appreciate your understanding and consideration of my situation. Thank you for your time and support.
Sincerely,
Basel Abdelhadi
