Submit an Academic Petition or Appeal

Petition Letter: I am writing this petition in the hopes of being allowed back into the beginner's Spanish course (SPAN 111) while also dropping the French course (FREN 118) that I mistakenly joined. On the night of the drop and add deadline, I accidentally dropped the beginner's Spanish class and joined an online French class. I believed that the French class would be good, but then after I was added to the onQ this morning, it required a level of proficiency that I am not at. Unfortunately, the online French class is not at the right level for me, and does not align with my learning needs; therefore, I am unable to participate effectively. It is clear to me that my time and efforts would be better spent trying to learn Spanish.

I have been attending the SPAN 111 class for the past two weeks and would like to be re-added to continue my studies. I have attended every lecture and have been putting in a significant effort in the class. For the longest time, I have wanted to learn how to speak Spanish, and this class has been a great stepping stone for just that. I believe that continuing in this course is fundamental to my academic growth and success here at Queen's University.

I kindly ask you to consider my request for my reinstatement in SPAN 111 while also allowing me to drop the French class. I appreciate your understanding in this situation. I hope that this mistake can be resolved quickly And effectively in order for me to get back to my studies as soon as possible.
