Petition Letter: Hello,
My name is Meghan Beaton, and I am writing to formally request permission to add PSYC 336 to my Fall term schedule after the deadline.
I am currently completing a Biology degree, but I am planning to switch into the Honours stream at the end of this year. In order to do so, I need to complete a minor, and I have chosen Psychology. After reviewing my academic record, I realized that PSYC 336 is the final course I require to complete the Psychology minor, which in turn allows me to qualify for the Honours degree.
Unfortunately, this course did not appear in my OnQ degree plan, as the Psychology minor was not yet officially recognized in my program plan. Because of this, I did not see the requirement and therefore did not register before the deadline. I only became aware of this issue yesterday.
I have already contacted the course instructor to express my commitment to catching up on the material and she advised me to complete a petition as there is one spot left in the course. I am confident that I can do so successfully, as I have previously joined a course late and excelled, and I have taken related courses such as Clinical Psychology and Advanced Child Clinical Psychology. I am prepared to complete any additional work the instructor deems necessary to demonstrate my readiness.
This is my final year, and being able to add this course is crucial in ensuring that I can both finish my Psychology minor and transition into the Honours degree. I am highly motivated to complete this requirement and believe that granting this petition would allow me to do so without disruption to the class or my academic progress.

Academic Plan
Academic Plan: My current program is a Bachelor of Science in Biology as I had a few extenuating circumstances in my first few years of school, but I have had major improvements in the past year so but I am planning to transition into the Honours Biology degree after this year. In order to do so, I must complete a minor, and I have chosen Psychology and Philosophy since I have already completed nearly all of the required courses. The only remaining requirement is PSYC 336, which will allow me to finish the PSYC minor and therefore qualify for the Honours program. Unfortunately, this course did not appear in my OnQ degree plan because the Psychology minor was not yet officially recognized in my program, which caused me to miss the registration deadline. By enrolling in PSYC 336 now, I will be able to complete the Psychology minor this year, meet all the necessary requirements for the Honours Biology degree, and graduate on schedule.
