Petition Letter: To the Office of Petitions and Appeals,
I am writing to formally request a late withdrawal from the following courses:
INTN 301 / (Fall 2024) / INTN 302 (Winter 2025) / FILM 260 (Summer 2024)
The INTN 301 and INTN 302 courses are structured as a full-year program. As such, withdrawal from one necessitates withdrawal from the other. Unfortunately, I was unable to complete these courses due to extraordinary and unforeseen personal circumstances that significantly disrupted my academic year.
In late January 2025, my home was broken into. All valuables belonging to myself and my family were stolen, and my living space and my own bedroom was left ransacked. This event was deeply distressing and had a profound impact on both my emotional well-being and my ability to focus on my academic responsibilities.
Just one month later, I experienced the devastating loss of my best friend, Jaden Thind, who passed away from stage 3 lung cancer. This compounded my grief and left me unable to meaningfully engage with coursework. I took time away from my studies to support his family and to recover personally from these traumatic experiences.
When I explained my situation to the internship coordinators, they recommended that I withdraw from the internship courses and assured me they would support my petition. Specifically, Nuray, Greg, James (Jim), and Virginia have all agreed to vouch for my late withdrawal request.
FILM 260 (Summer 2024)
I am also requesting a late withdrawal from FILM 260, which I enrolled in during Summer 2024. At the time, I was preparing for my internship placement and was unable to devote time to the course. Unfortunately, I did not complete any coursework at all and mistakenly believed that I had already included this course in a previous late-drop petition. This was an oversight on my part, as the demands of my schedule and personal circumstances led me to miss the appropriate deadline.
Request for Consideration
Given the extraordinary personal challenges I faced, along with the professional support of my internship coordinators, I respectfully request approval for a late withdrawal from INTN 301, INTN 302, and FILM 260. I believe this is a fair and reasonable resolution that acknowledges both the unique difficulties of my situation and my otherwise strong commitment to my academic program.
